playing with the hags

This is one of the many playgrounds all around our apartment, and both Daniel and Lydia like to play here! I couldn't help but notice that the name of the play equipment was "hags," which means, "ugly or frightful old woman."
Why would anyone name their company HAGS?! Oh well, it makes me smile every time Lydia goes out to play anyway, so i guess it's worth something.

3 years!

A quick detour from our moving updates to show some sweet pictures from our 3 year anniversary....Amongst other things, we went out for a beachside stroll in the nearby city of Varberg.
This stony beach is gorgeous! But my husband is an even nicer view!
There was also this really bad building we went by...strange people that name a building like that! (haha, bad means "bathing" in Swedish)
Nothing tops off a nice date like a romantic walk by the shores and a bunch of naked old ladies out sunbathing!
Here is a photo from 4 years ago at the same beach when we were dating and I visited Sweden!

De skriv på Engelska, att det finns gnälla tillgångligt till alla som fråga. Haha. Ska servitörer gnälla med alla gäster som kommer för att ata dit? Haha!

that was a witch of a lunch!

Ha. Sometimes I am not fast enough to capture all the language mistakes when people write signs or even wear tshirts in English. But I could not let this sign pass me by. I wonder how you make a sandWITCH? I didn't even know there were witches in this country.... Other tshirts that have made me laugh in the past week or so.... Little boy wearing a shirt that says, "wild for the night" Serious looking lady wearing a shirt that says something like, "eat me" Guy with his friends with a shirt that says, "i think i recognize you from facebook" And a plethora of people who buy second hand American clothes from the street market here with funny slogans like, "Billy's plumbing and guttering" a man with a shirt that he probably didn't understand that says "Breast cancer relay for life, Atlanta 2005" and so on... When it is a common experience to get catcalls in the streets, it is a nice de-stresser to have a little fun reading English along the way.

tampons?

I have been laughing about this for a year now. Around town, there are several manly looking stores that boast "tampons" for sale. Trust me, there are no tampons to be found inside. Oh, some french words are just too much! We also enjoyed signs for "poisson" (which Daniel thought was poison at first) and "pain," which also comes in chocolate flavor....i never knew that chocolate was possible, until we moved here.

Ikea in Saudi Arabia

I couldnt stop myself from taking some photos of our visit to IKEA in Saudi. Instead of the happy photos of swedish blonde families sitting in their Ikea furnished house, there were these sweet head to toe clad ladies possibly smiling at her husband (who knows what her face was saying under that veil)...while he puts his hand out. What does he want? High five? "Serve me some food, woman!" "I wish you could hold my hand but that might be breaking social rules..." It was a great Ikea, however. photos like this abounded around every corner. And just for fun, a view as we were driving away...

practical joke with chicken and worn cheese?

What a TERRIBLE english translation on a box of lasagna noodles i bought... (i added the bold type, but the rest is exactly as it stands on the box!) Preparation: cook the chicken in the water and the perfumed milk of laurel. Remove it from the fire and bone it. Filter the liquid of cooking and add some milk to obtain 50 cl form it. Cut the chicken in small fragments. Put back it on the fire, add the crushed garlic, the fresh cream, and cook on soft fire durin 5 mn. Add salt and pepper, make gild onions in the butter. Add mushrooms and make them some minutes return. Prepare a rather liquid bechamel sauce. Butter a dish of furnace; Pay a fine layer of practical joke with chicken, a thickness of lasagne then a practical joke in mushrooms and finally a layer of bechamel sauce. Superimpose the remainder of the ingredients in this manner. Finish by the bechamel sauce, strew with worn cheese. Recover of aluminium foil and cook in the furnace during 45 mn. A true delight. Good appetite.

Systematic Theology, Chapter 39

*Just a reminder that this study of Wayne Grudem's book, Systematic Theology, is not by any means me teaching, but rather a simple sum...
