the best thing about the fall season in Sweden

Nothing better than a good hike in the forest, especially if we can find some Chanterelle mushrooms along the way!

Two days ago as we drove on a narrow windy Swedish road, I told Daniel, "stop the car, stop the car!" So we pulled over and picked ourselves a feast of Chanterelles that were growing there!

Today, we went for a hike but most of the local forest has already been "picked out" and there were only stubs of mushrooms left for the most part. But we did find enough for a sauteed chanterelle sandwich. Even Lydia is picking up on the art of Chanterelle picking!
Thanks, Chanterelles, for supplying our daily requirement of Vitamin B, Vitamin D, and plenty of protein! (do i sound like a health hippie or what!?)

Making a house a home...

Can you imagine, that everything you see in these pictures has been bought secondhand for GOOD old fashioned cheap prices?!

We have enjoyed the "hunt" for furniture, and now the apartment feels much more homey.

Not much left that is still needed, but a trip to Gekås (the swedish version of super walmart) should cure that.

we are responsible adults now!

In addition to a new apartment and all that goes along with that, we had to get ourselves a car.

In all our married life we have never had a car, so this was a first that we had been saving up for....and better off to get something that will last, like a good patriotic Swedish Volvo.

This is not our car exactly, but it looks oretty much just like the photo.

Daniel used the Swedish equivalent of Craigslist and then had to drive 3 hours to get the car, and just beat 2 other prospective buyers to the deal.

Yeeehaw! We have a car!

3 years!

A quick detour from our moving updates to show some sweet pictures from our 3 year anniversary....Amongst other things, we went out for a beachside stroll in the nearby city of Varberg.

This stony beach is gorgeous! But my husband is an even nicer view!
There was also this really bad building we went by...strange people that name a building like that! (haha, bad means "bathing" in Swedish)
Nothing tops off a nice date like a romantic walk by the shores and a bunch of naked old ladies out sunbathing!

Here is a photo from 4 years ago at the same beach when we were dating and I visited Sweden!
